The sidebar
The sidebar app
The MonetrixOS sidebar next to your sheet — the Home screen, the bottom bar (Home, Ledger, Movements, More) and how each screen works with its tab.
On this page
The sidebar is a compact app that opens on the right of your sheet. It gives you a quick view of your money and simple forms to add things, while the full lists stay in the sheet tabs.
To open it, choose MonetrixOS › 📊 Open. To have it open by itself, see Settings.
The bar at the bottom of the sidebar has four buttons:
- Home — your overview (see below).
- Ledger — your transactions.
- Movements — your transfers between accounts.
- More — everything else: Analytics, Loans, Recurring, Budgets, Goals, Accounts, Members, Lenders, Categories and Settings.
At the top, the back arrow takes you back — out of a form first, then to Home. On the Home screen, the gear opens Settings.
The Home screen sums up your month:
- Net worth and Spent this month, each with its change in percent;
- Cash flow · 12 mo — your money in and out over the last 12 months;
- Spending · last 6 months — a bar for each month;
- Loans — your loans and how far you are in repaying them;
- Recent — your latest transactions;
- Add transaction — opens the transaction form.
When budgets reach their alert threshold, Home shows a banner such as 1 budget needs attention with the budgets that are Near limit or Over budget. See Budgeting.
Transactions, Transfers, Loans, Recurring, Budgets, Goals and Accounts work the same way. When you open one, the sidebar also switches the sheet to the matching tab, because the full list lives in the sheet. The screen shows:
- two summary figures at the top (for example Total owed and Paid to date on Loans);
- a short list of the most relevant items with their progress;
- View in sheet, to jump to the tab;
- on most screens, Recalculate, to refresh the calculated columns;
- a button to add a new item, such as + Add loan.
On Recurring you also find Process now, and on Budgets, Rollover.
Members, Lenders and Categories are edited entirely in the sidebar. See Household members & sharing, Loans and Transactions & auto-categorization.
The sidebar uses your workbook's language. In Arabic, the sidebar is laid out from right to left. Your sheet tabs keep their usual left-to-right layout in every language.
- One-time setup needed — you haven't given Google permission yet. See Google permissions explained.
- Something went wrong loading the app. Please reopen it. — select Retry, or close the sidebar and open it again from the menu.
More fixes are in Troubleshooting.
