Getting started
Install the add-on
What you need before you install MonetrixOS for Google Sheets, how to install it, and where to find it in your spreadsheet.
On this page
MonetrixOS for Google Sheets is a Google Sheets add-on: you add it to Google Sheets once, then open it from a menu inside your spreadsheet.
- A computer. The add-on runs in Google Sheets in a web browser on a computer. Google doesn't make add-ons available in the Google Sheets apps for phones and tablets, or in mobile browsers. You can still open your workbook on your phone to look at it.
- A Google account. A free personal account works.
- Your licence key. It is in the email you received after buying. See Buying & your licence.
- A new, blank spreadsheet. Setting up the add-on builds your workbook for you and replaces everything that is already in the spreadsheet, so start from an empty one.
Your licence email explains how to install the add-on. The steps are:
- Open the blank spreadsheet you created, in Google Sheets on a computer.
- Install the add-on by following the instructions in your licence email.
- When Google asks for permission, review it and allow it. See Google permissions explained.
Once the add-on is installed, a MonetrixOS menu is available in your spreadsheet. Depending on how the add-on was installed, it appears in the menu bar at the top of the sheet, or under Extensions › MonetrixOS.
The menu has two items:
- 📊 Open — opens the MonetrixOS sidebar next to your sheet. You do everything from here: activate, set up and use the add-on.
- ℹ️ About — shows the version, your licence status and the support email.
The first time you open the add-on, it asks for your licence key. Continue with Activate your licence.
Each person who wants to use the sidebar in your shared workbook needs the add-on in their own Google account, and gives Google permission once. They don't need their own licence: the workbook is already activated. See Household members & sharing.
