Google permissions explained

The one-time permission prompt from Google, in plain language — what each permission lets MonetrixOS do, and what it doesn't.

On this page

Before any add-on can work in your spreadsheet, Google asks you to allow it. You see this prompt once per person, the first time you use MonetrixOS. It is shown by Google, in your language, from your own Google account.

What MonetrixOS asks for

MonetrixOS asks for five permissions — and nothing else.

What Google shows What it lets MonetrixOS do What it doesn't do
View and manage spreadsheets that this application has been installed in Read and write the one spreadsheet you use the add-on in, to build your workbook and keep it up to date. It can't open your other spreadsheets or files, and it has no access to your Google Drive.
Connect to an external service Contact the MonetrixOS licence server to activate and re-check your licence. Nothing else is contacted, and none of your workbook content is sent.
Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications Show the MonetrixOS menu, sidebar and dialogs inside Google Sheets. The sidebar is built into the add-on; it doesn't load other websites.
Allow this application to run when you are not present Run the scheduled tasks in your spreadsheet: recurring items, the monthly budget rollover, the net-worth snapshot, automatic workbook updates (on by default, can be turned off in Settings) and, if you turn it on, opening the sidebar when the file opens. These tasks run inside your spreadsheet and don't send your data anywhere.
See your primary Google Account email address Read the email address of the Google account you use and send it to the MonetrixOS licence server when you first activate, to tie the activation to the purchaser, detect shared or resold licence keys (by comparing it with the buyer's email) and help with licence support. It's never sold, shared with third parties for their own purposes, or used for marketing. It gives no access to your Gmail or your other Google data.

The add-on doesn't use Gmail, your contacts or your calendar, and it contains no advertising or tracking. What happens with your data is explained in Privacy & data.

Give permission

  1. Open the MonetrixOS menu and choose 📊 Open.
  2. Google shows the permission prompt. If you have several Google accounts, choose the account you use for this spreadsheet.
  3. Review the list and allow it.

"One-time setup needed"

If someone opens the sidebar before giving permission, it shows One-time setup needed instead of the app. This is normal for anyone new to the workbook — for example a family member you just shared it with.

  1. Open the MonetrixOS menu and choose 📊 Open.
  2. Accept the permission prompt from Google.
  3. In the sidebar, select I’ve done that — retry.

Changing your mind

You can remove the add-on's access at any time from your Google Account's security settings, in the list of apps with access to your account. The add-on then stops working for you until you allow it again. Your workbook and its data stay in your spreadsheet.
