Getting started

Overview

What MonetrixOS for Google Sheets is, what you need to start, and how these docs are organised.

On this page

MonetrixOS for Google Sheets is a Google Sheets add-on that turns a spreadsheet into a complete system for your money: what comes in, what goes out, what you save and what you owe. It lives in your own Google Sheets workbook.

What you need

  • A Google account, to use Google Sheets.
  • A computer: the add-on runs in Google Sheets in a web browser, not in the Google Sheets mobile apps.
  • A MonetrixOS licence: $9.99, paid once. See Buying & your licence.

How it works

  1. Buy a licence.
  2. Check your email. You receive your licence key and getting-started instructions.
  3. Install the add-on. Your licence email explains how.
  4. Open the add-on and give Google permission. Each person does this once.
  5. Enter your licence key.
  6. Follow the 3-step setup wizard. Your workbook is built automatically.

What’s in your workbook

Your workbook has a tab for each part of your finances:

  • Dashboard — the overview of your money for a period.
  • Transactions — your income and expenses.
  • Movements — transfers between your own accounts.
  • Accounts — where your money is kept.
  • Budgeting — your spending targets.
  • Savings & Goals — what you are saving for.
  • Loans — what you owe and your progress paying it off.
  • Recurrings — payments that repeat.
  • Budget History and Net Worth History — monthly snapshots.

The add-on also has a sidebar, a compact view of your money that opens next to the sheet.

Languages and currency

The add-on works in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. You choose your language and your currency when you set up the workbook.

Sharing with your household

One licence covers one workbook, shared by up to 5 people. See Household members & sharing.

How these docs are organised

  • Getting started — buying, installing, activating and setting up.
  • Using the workbook — a guide to each tab.
  • The sidebar — the compact view next to your sheet.
  • Settings & automation — preferences, what runs in the background, and updates.
  • Help — troubleshooting, questions and your data.
